Historic Gramercy Garden
Once a poorly planned amalgamation of two apartments, this townhouse garden floor was given a spirited overhaul to suit the vibrant lifestyle of a handbag designer client and her family. Reinstated as the heart of the home, the kitchen was enlarged to accommodate a hosting-appropriate island, seamlessly softened by the adjoining living space. Light was invited back inside through triple-pane windows, without impacting the landmarked facade, opening out onto a charming courtyard garden cosseted in festoon lights.
Sustainable style and earth-inspired vibrancy informed the design, from the nursery’s salvaged wood floor to recycled crystal fixtures and textural grasscloth. A tumultuous combination of harmonious textiles and prints allows for an expression of the client’s artistic disposition.
